i love the idea of designated purpose.
it seems like tech is built to do everything
now so i bought this laptop on ebay for $150
with the sole purpose of updating this site and taking notes, nothing more.

old-tech dosent always have to become completely obsolete. at one point
this laptop was at the top of the line so as long as i dont go past what
it was meant to achieve when it came out im fine. people dont pick up a
gameboy advance and try to run cyberpunk.
(even computers have a hard time with that tbf lmao)

the moment something becomes avoidable is when its preferred. we used
record players for so long only to go back because the once annoying
cracks and pops became an aesthetic that added to the experience.
same with film cameras.

buying old tech can be risky. you're never sure if something will work as
expected. a good rule of thumb is to buy from sellers that are thorough
with scratches, battery levels, pics from every angle etc. usually sellers
like this are trustworthy. also, do your research on reddit. there's
always a guy who has written a 5000 word essay on what, when, where and how to buy.

its easy to become entranced in a world that is long gone but it dosent
have to be one or the other. beautiful things were designed to be enjoyed.

if you take care of something, it will take care of you.

Linux Mint
first time using linux. we all have stockholm syndrome using windows for
so many years. its strange to not have to go through 17 menu systems and 2
different UIs to find something or have xbox game bar, bing and edge shoved
down your throat. you're basically forced to use linux on old computers bc
windows is literally a bloat feeder boyfriend.
Firefox
    vertical tabs and bookmarks >
Geany
    simple text editor
Obsidian

Enhancer
    improved youtube layout

Rythmbox
