People will come to love their oppression, to adore the technologies that undo their capacities to think. - Aldous Huxley
Doing nothing is better than being busy doing nothing - Lao Tzu

But this life flew by quickly... and I'm only 19. I don't have any advice to give except for this: Do what you want to do... What you really, REALLY want to do, because life's way too fuckin' short to worry about the consequences, there's too many. And it's way too short to worry about what someone else might think, it just doesn't matter. The only thing that does matter is what you do with the time you got, and make sure you do it the way you want to. Because as you do it and sip your Double Mocca Latte, your life burns away faster than any summer vacation that you remember. So make sure you remember the good parts and hope the bad ones don't last long. - Love Yourself - DSU

To be silent the whole day, see no newspaper, hear no radio, listen to no gossip, be thoroughly and completely lazy, thoroughly and completely indifferent to the fate of the world is the finest medicine a man can give himself.

Belief in inspiration. Artists have an interest in others' believing in sudden ideas, so-called inspirations; as if the idea of a work of art, of poetry, the fundamental thought of a philosophy shines down like a merciful light from heaven. In truth, the good artist's or thinker's imagination is continually producing things good, mediocre, and bad, but his power of judgment, highly sharpened and practiced, rejects, selects, joins. - Nietzsche

Why should a man surrender his dignity to the solar system any more than to a whale? If mere size proves that man is not the image of God, then a whale may be the image of God; a somewhat formless image; what one might call an impressionist portrait. It is quite futile to argue that man is small compared to the cosmos; for man was always small compared to the nearest tree. - G. K. Chesterton

And when nobody wakes you up in the mornings, and when nobody waits for you at night, and when you can do whatever you want. What do you call it, freedom or loneliness? - Bukowski

Above all, dont lie to yourself. The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to such a pass that he cannot distinguish the within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love, and in order to occupy and distract himself without love he gives way to passions and coarse pleasures, and sinks to bestiality in his vices, all from continual lying to other men and himself. The man who lies to himself can be more easily offended than any one. You know it is sometimes very pleasent to take offense, isn't it? A man may know that nobody has insulted him, but that he has invented the insult for himself, has lied and exaggerated to make it pictureesque, has caught at a word and made a mountain out of a molehill-he knows that himself, yet he will be the first to take offense, and will reveal his resentment till he feels great pleasure in it, and so pass to genuine vindictiveness. - Dostoyevsky

To be happy at home, said Johnson, is the end of all human endevour. As long as we are thinking only of natural values we must say that the sun looks down on nothing half so good as a household laughing together over a meal, or two friends talking over a pint of beer, or a man alone reading a books that interests him; and that all economics, politics, laws, armies, and institutions, save in so far as they prolong and multiply such scenes, are mere ploughing the sand and sowing the ocean, a meaningless vanity and vexation of spirit. - C.S. Lewis

It's easy to be a naive idealist. It's easy to be a cynical realist. It's quite another thing to have no illusions and still hold the inner flame.

The key is making your inner thoughts more real than the outer environment, because then the brain won't know the difference between the two will change to look as if the even has taken place. If you're able to do this successfully enough times, you'll transform your body and begin to activate new genes in new ways, producing epigenetic changes - just as though the imagined future event were real.

Sorry to break it to you but you literally have to face your fears and slaughter them. Otherwise you will live a small life that you do not want. You literally have to view your biggest fears and attack them head on. You have to fall into the abyss to find your way out. The easy path does not exist. There is no get out of jail free card. You have to allow yourself to die a spiritual death over and over again in order to reinvent yourself into the person you are actually supposed to be. And you have to be painfully honest with yourself and the people around you. Its horrible but its truly the only way.

I'm a big freak because I'm myself.

Outwork your self-doubt
No school can teach integrity.
Create more than you consume.
Fall seven times, rise eight.
Get from the day, not through the day.

Your worst sin is that you have destroyed and betrayed yourself for nothing
Easy-to-understand movies are boring. Logical storylines sacrifice creativity. Kids get it, they dont operate on logic.

The really hopeless victims of mental illness are to be found among those who appear to be most normal. Many of them are normal because they are so well adjusted to our mode of existence, because their human voice has been silenced so early in their lives, that they do not even struggle or suffer or develop symptoms as the neurotic does. They are normal not in what may be called the ab-solute sense of the word; they are normal only in relation to a profoundly abnormal society. Their perfect adjustment to that abnormal society is a measure of their mental sickness. - Huxley
